An invitation to the
Notes of Thanks Concert
Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 2:30 PM
Forest View Educational Center (formerly High School)
2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights, IL
Forest View and Elk Grove High School Alumni from 1972 to 2002 join together in a choir of more than 200 voices to show their appreciation and sing once again under the direction of their teacher, mentor, and friend Jerry Swanson. Mr. Swanson’s pursuit of excellence instilled in his students not only a love of music but also a passion for life.
Mr. Swanson’s internationally acclaimed high school choral program sang regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, toured North America and Europe, and left a legacy of choral excellence with former students going on to perform in Broadway shows, operas, television, stage and movie roles as well as directing and performing in community and church choirs. His legacy continues to grow with his students now teaching in Northwest Suburban Chicago District 214 and in many elementary and college music programs.
Alumni from Mr. Swanson’s 30 years of service have been rehearsing since summer and are coming back from across the country to sing a variety of genres including classical music from Handel, Verdi, Haydn, and Bruckner; Broadway music from Rogers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter and Andrew Lloyd Weber; choral classics from Robert Shaw and Vaughan Williams; and, movingly, their high school Alma Maters.
Please join us for an afternoon of great music and emotion in our “Notes of Thanks” to Mr. Swanson.
Tickets are available at the door for $10 or in advance for $7 by calling 847-718-7702, Monday to Friday 8 AM to 4 PM. Kids under 12 are free. Cash and checks accepted at the performance, credit cards by phone only. To give something back to the community, the group is directing all proceeds to benefit District 214 Community Education Fine Arts, which is hosting the event.
